University Dental P.A., in Columbia, SC, delivers a wide range of restorative dental care services to our patients, including the placement of crowns and bridges, full and partial dentures, and more. Crown and Bridge Restoration

At University Dental P.A., we use crowns and bridges to restore natural teeth that have been damaged, decayed or lost. Once we have examined your teeth and have evaluated your dental and medical history, we will  provide a diagnosis and personalized treatment options tailored to your dental needs. A crown may be constructed to restore an individual damaged tooth back to its original form and function, while a bridge may be utilized to replace one or more teeth.

If you think you need a crown or bridge, call us today to schedule a consultation.

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and onlays are dental restorations that are typically used as alternatives to dental crowns. Inlays and onlays offer a well-fitting, durable, longer-lasting solution to tooth decay or similar damage.

Oftentimes, inlays and onlays are used in place of traditional dental fillings to treat tooth decay or similar structural damage. Whereas dental fillings are molded into place within the mouth during a dental visit, inlays and onlays are fabricated indirectly in a dental lab before being fitted and bonded to the damaged tooth by our dental staff.

The restoration is called an "inlay" when the material is bonded within the center of a tooth. On the other hand, the restoration is referred to as an "onlay" when the extent of the damage requires inclusion of one or more cusps of the tooth or full coverage of the biting surface.

Dental Implant Restorations

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost one or more teeth due to gum disease, an injury or some other reason.

  • Am I a good candidate for a dental implant?

The ideal candidate for a dental implant is in good general and oral health. Adequate bone in your jaw is needed to support the implant, and the best candidates have healthy gum tissues that are free of periodontal disease.

Dental implants are intimately connected with the gum tissues and underlying bone in the mouth. Since periodontists are the dental experts who specialize in precisely these areas, they are ideal members of your dental implant team. Not only do periodontists have experience working with other dental professionals, they also have the special knowledge, training and facilities that you need to have teeth that look and feel just like your own. Our dentists and your periodontist will work together to make your dreams come true.

At University Dental P.A., we provide a treatment plan and work with area professionals to accomplish a complete restoration.
